How do I become a Bump Model?

To become a Bump Model for any of our divisions, we require 2 x “happy snaps” (full length, including your face) & no more than x 2 professional shots if you have them (wedding photos perhaps) all in low resolution. When sending them to us make sure you include important details such as your name, age, measurements and contact details, and tell us about any previous performing experience or training you have.

What states do you cover?

All states. Sydney is by far our busiest, followed by Melbourne and Brisbane. We are slowly growing in WA & SA and have the occasional request even in remote areas. Clients will also fly you interstate if you are what they are looking for.

What are you looking for?

Real people of all shapes and sizes, TV commercials require different types of people all the time all you need is confidence and experience will follow. Being flexible to attend all castings and jobs is a big advantage. We trust you as a responsible parent to make the right decision that your child is suitable and happy to be working in the industry.

What Division should I be in?

Pregnant Division:

Women of all ages can model. And clients are looking for pregnant models with bumps of all sizes too. Some women’s bumps appear much quicker than others, so it’s difficult to suggest the best time to join. We’d suggest that you get in touch as soon as you know about your pregnancy.

Mother & Child Division:

Whilst you are pregnant and have other children with whom you would like to model, you can be in both our Pregnant Division and our Mother & Child Division.

Again all ages will be considered; older mums with their teenage sons or daughters or younger mums with newborns. We have recently worked with both Bonds and Huggies, providing “real” mothers and their babies for TV commercials, and they had no professional modeling experience.

Father & Child Division;

We’re looking for Fathers of all ages with their own children; Dad next-door types to hunky professional models. Anyone with a skill such as playing sport well is also an advantage as this is something often requested. All you need is flexibility from work so you can attend auditions and jobs.

Real Families Division:

This is a great opportunity for you to enjoy the modeling experience with the whole family, and no need to pay for childcare whilst you go out to work! This is a fun experience and a great memory to share together. We have a special offer if you are in our Mother or Father Division and your child is in Cheeky Bumps; we will create a Real Family card for you absolutely FREE!

Cheeky Bumps Division:

Our kids start from newborn babies, who are normally from our Pregnant Models once their little ones arrive. We have become very well known in Australia for our younger children because we are the country’s ONLY modeling agency covering this niche market. We work closely with Kids Guardian, which is a regulation put in place to protect children whilst at work in this industry: http://www.kidsguardian.nsw.gov.au/ to ensure that our kids continue to be safe and happy models. We continue to represent children all the way up to 16 years old.

Do you interview children?

We don’t ask you to bring your children in for an interview. We know that a 10-minute interview can’t sum up whether your child is suitable. Kids, especially babies and young ones could be having a bad day or take time to warm to strange environments. As long as your photos are accurate and not Photo-shopped, we are happy to make the decision based on their photos. Children who can dance, sing or perform, definitely have an advantage, as they will have confidence and stage presence.

Do you accept all talent?

Each person is advised what market they will be placed in but unfortunately not all are accepted. Some models are best for catalogue and fashion, some for TV Commercials and others because of their cultural background for TVCs aired in other countries.

How do you know if we are a reputable Agency?

Reputation is everything and we can proudly say that Bump Models has a flawless reputation. Check out our work and videos. Add us on Facebook, Twitter & Linked In. You can even find us on blogs and modeling forums with wonderful comments from happy families.

We are also recommended on Huggies website: http://www.huggies.com.au/parenting/resources/talent-agencies, after having our kids booked for numerous packaging jobs with them.

Who are our clients?

We work with some of the country’s and world’s biggest brands. Take a look at out our client and brand list on our Bio page.

We also work really closely with some of Australia’s leading Casting, Advertising & Production Companies including; Toni Higginbotham Castings, McGregor’s Casting, I4 Casting, Mullinars Ogilvy & Mather, M & C Saatchi, Plump Films, Take 2 Events, Oz Cam, Screen Now Productions, The Campaign Palace and many more…

Do you charge a fee?

We are a business so we do have to charge fees but here at Bump we’re different to other agencies. We believe that reputable agencies should not overcharge for their products and services. Being a model and mother of 2, I understand that you do not need the extra expense of joining a modeling agency. We focus on the jobs that we book, not the profit that can be made by talent joining us.

How do I make payment?

You will be sent an invoice for the agreed amount of purchase. Payment can be made either by Electronic transfer, Cheque or Pay Pal. AT2 payments you can pay by credit card on their site yourself.

What is a casting?

A casting is an audition, requested 80% of the time prior to a booking. Clients want to see you in person and see how you are on camera. Photoshop is used a lot in photography these days and clients prefer to meet you in person, especially in TV. Most castings are CBD located – unfortunately at casting stage travel and parking expenses aren’t covered.

What is AT2 & ECaster?

Some Casting Directors and Producers use these sites when looking to book talent. They expect all reputable Agencies to have their talent registered. A job brief is created by the client and emailed to the Agent. If you are suited for the role, we simply submit your profile from the website. You can create your own AT2 & ECaster profile or we can offer help. If you are suitable we invite you for audition, or book you for the job. Some of our largest clients and highest paid jobs have come from these sites - mostly TV commercials and advertising campaigns. It is not compulsory for you to be registered, however we encourage self promotion and if you are serious about paid work, you should consider this option.

Some Casting and Advertising Agencies may only use one of the above  sites, so you will benefit more from being registered on both sites.

What is a Comp Card?

Comp Cards are used globally within the modeling industry. This is how agencies professionally present their artists details to clients upon request, upload on their website & use for marketing and for social media networks, such as Facebook and Twitter. Multiple changes can be made (unlike the old fashioned hard-copy cards). We can update photos and measurements – especially since our children and pregnant models are ever growing. Our cards are printable for you to access easily.

What are portfolios?

Portfolios are books/folders that are used by models to present photographic work to clients. It is not necessary for children to have these, as their look changes so quickly and portfolios quickly become out of date. They are also quite costly, so the extra expense is not necessary. TVC clients do not request to see portfolios, as they will video record you at an audition.

Do I need professional photos or a portfolio?

It is not compulsory to have professional photos. However your shots are all that the client has to see before deciding if you should come for casting. The better the images, the better your chances of getting work. There will be lots of other models invited to castings; some from other agencies and some very experienced with extensive portfolios. The client wants to see what they are paying for, so the better equipped you are, the higher your chances for paid work.

However we don’t think this applies to babies and young children. If you have a good camera at home or know a photographer friend, then we recommend you take some nice shots, as long as they are in focus, in good light, either outdoors or against a plain background or wall. Alternatively, you can shoot with our In-House photographer & Make Up Artist package from as little as $100 (1/h hour - includes 2 x edits and full high res CD) or $200 (1 hour - includes x 4 edits and a full high res CD). Sessions are held at our Bella Vista Studio on the first Saturday of every month and on demand thereafter.

Are you guaranteed work?

Sorry, we can’t guarantee anyone work. As beautiful and talented as you may be clients are looking for particular things and we don’t make the final decision. However I do have great communication with the clients and will not send you to a casting/audition if you are not suited (AKA a cattle call).

Although there is a great deal of money that can be made if you are chosen for the right job kids modeling should be treated like a hobby, entering a competition or playing competitive sport, something you enjoy and look forward to. Seeing work in magazines and catalogues is always exciting and keeping this material for keepsakes and memories is wonderful. The industry is a competitive one but you have to be "in it to win it" and if you have fun and don’t take it too seriously it can be win/win for you and the people you model for.

How many jobs a year do you get?

It’s hard to know how many jobs we might get in a year but take a look at our client list; with details showing which division they are relevant to. Timing and availability helps. If you are never away on holidays and attend every casting, you have a much better chance of working.

How do I know if I get a casting or job?

We SMS our casting calls and ask that you to reply if you can or can’t make it. After the casting, it’s a bit of a waiting game. Not all clients will advise us if you didn’t get the job - so unfortunately no news is generally a disappointing answer. However if you are successful scripts will be emailed to you, or if it’s short notice you will receive a phone call from us. You can see our daily activity on Facebook and our Fan Page. This is Bump Models voice and the best way to keep up to date with progress we are always uploading client castings, the names of the models who get the castings and also who gets the job.

How do I get paid?

You will need an ABN number to receive payment for a job, however you can join with us before you have completed this process. We can help you with it. You will need a Tax File number first then you are able to apply for an ABN here https://abr.gov.au/

How much do I earn?

A “deal” memo is given to us from the client, detailing fees, loadings, overtime etc but this will all be discussed and agreed with you before the job starts.

How do I see my work from a job I have done?

Unfortunately it’s not the client or modeling agency’s responsibility to collect shots or footage from a job. Most work will not be released until it has aired or been released to the general public. It is then sometimes a case of searching through magazines, websites or You Tube to find it.

Although here at Bump we are very good at collecting footage, we do still miss some, so we encourage you to email us the scanned images, links or information on how to collect it for you – info@bumpmodels.com.au

We will then upload this onto your comp cards, website, Facebook and sometimes we’ll run a story in our newsletter!
